Jointly Building a “Single Industrial Collaboration Chain” Accelerates the Development of Sichuan and Chongqing’s Distinctive Industries

Building a modern industrial system is a key task in the development of the Chengdu–Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle. Over the past two years, with a focus on upgrading the modernization of industrial and supply chains, Sichuan and Chongqing have worked closely together, fostering the continuous growth of a number of industry clusters with distinct competitive advantages and accelerating high-quality development.
Recently, Rongkai Chuanyi Co., Ltd. officially commenced mass production of its independently developed lithium iron phosphate battery management system. Compared with traditional lead-acid batteries, this new product is better suited to the complex operating environments found in steel mills, chemical plants, and rail transit systems, while also delivering significantly improved operational efficiency.
Wang Dewei, Chairman of the company, told reporters that this new product can reduce manpower requirements by two-thirds, while promoting greener, lower-carbon, and smarter operations. Moreover, it represents the first domestic application of its kind in rail transit.
In its pursuit of innovative R&D, Rongkai ChuanYi is not going it alone. Earlier last year, with the assistance of the governments of Beibei and Mianyang, the company established a collaboration with Southwest University of Science and Technology. Soon thereafter, the university’s research achievements found practical application right here.
Professor Li Zhanfeng of the School of Manufacturing Science and Engineering at Southwest University of Science and Technology revealed that two additional technologies are currently under research, and he hopes to collaborate with enterprises in Sichuan and Chongqing—particularly in the Chongqing area—to jointly develop these technologies in the future.
Government facilitation and collaboration between universities and enterprises epitomize Chongqing and Sichuan’s efforts to build a “single industrial collaboration chain.” In key pillar industries such as automobiles, electronic information, and equipment manufacturing, the two municipalities have signed a comprehensive package of cooperation agreements. Supply-and-demand matchmaking platforms for the automobile and electronic information industrial chains in Chongqing and Sichuan have been launched one after another, boosting the regional parts-and-components localization rate across the Chengdu–Chongqing area to 80% Above; the “Chengdu-Chongqing Hydrogen Corridor” has officially opened and begun operations, essentially establishing a complete hydrogen energy industrial chain in both cities; the first batch 20 A demonstration park for Sichuan–Chongqing industrial cooperation has been established, with multiple demonstration projects for industrial collaboration being paired and launched. ...... Professor Jiang Jihai, from the School of Economics and Business Administration at Chongqing University and a doctoral supervisor, believes that a thriving industry drives economic prosperity. With robust industrial foundations and vast market potential in Sichuan and Chongqing, jointly building a modern industrial system will help the two regions develop into high-quality, regionally integrated economies, serving as important growth poles with demonstrative and leading roles and new engines of growth, thereby further strengthening their capacity to support the overarching national strategy.
