On October 17, 2018, in the lead-up to the Double Ninth Festival, Rongkai Chuanyi Company organized a public welfare visit to the Chengjiang Town Senior Care Home to promote the traditional Chinese virtues of respecting, caring for, and assisting the elderly, spread compassion, and express gratitude by giving back to society.
A delegation from the company’s Party, government, trade union, Youth League, and volunteer team arrived at the Chengjiang Town Senior Care Home, bringing with them bright red cashmere scarves for the elderly and ingredients for fresh meat and chive dumplings, to celebrate the Double Ninth Festival together. Everyone was busily engaged in their assigned tasks—washing vegetables, mincing meat, seasoning, mixing the filling, and wrapping dumplings—while cheerful greetings and the sound of bustling activity enlivened the usually quiet courtyard. Wang Dewei, the company’s chairman, also joined the young volunteers, rolling up his sleeves to help make dumplings. Soon, steaming hot dumplings were served at the table. Seeing the elderly warmly wrapped in cozy scarves and enjoying the piping-hot, fragrant dumplings, the volunteers’ faces lit up with joy, knowing that they had contributed a heartfelt gesture of respect and care for the elderly. Through their concrete actions, they embodied the volunteer spirit of “dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and progress.”
This event was warmly welcomed by the leadership of the nursing home and its residents. Through cordial conversations with the elderly, participants gained a better understanding of their health and daily lives, offered them words of encouragement to take good care of themselves, and wished them good health, long life, and a happy, peaceful retirement. The visit deeply conveyed the care and warmth of the broader community to the residents, and the nursing home’s leadership expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the elderly for the volunteers’ concern and assistance. The visit concluded amid laughter and cheerful conversation.
