Source:
Since the beginning of this year, in order to celebrate the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up, commend the tremendous achievements our country has made, and inspire employees to uphold the spirit of self-improvement and relentless striving, the company has organized a series of commemorative events. As one of these activities, on October 18, 2018, the company hosted a special Party Day themed event, inviting Mr. Fang Fengfu, a renowned Chinese traditional painting master and professor at Southwest University, to the factory to share his “Life in Painting and Deep Patriotism.” The event drew extensive participation from Party members, prospective Party members, and young League members. Mr. Fang Fengfu’s works—such as his paintings of flowers and birds, wisteria, and grapes—have been presented on numerous occasions as state gifts to foreign dignitaries and distinguished guests, serving as a symbolic representation of China on the international stage.
Since the beginning of this year, in order to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening-up, celebrate the tremendous achievements our country has made, and inspire employees to uphold the spirit of self-improvement and perseverance, the company has organized a series of commemorative events. As one of these activities, on October 18, 2018, the company hosted a special Party Day thematic event, inviting Mr. Fang Fengfu, a renowned Chinese traditional painting master and professor at Southwest University, to the factory to share his “Life in Painting and Deep Patriotism.” The event drew broad participation from Party members, prospective Party members, and young League members.
Professor Fang Fengfu’s paintings of flowers and birds, wisteria, grapes, and other subjects have been presented on numerous occasions as state gifts to foreign dignitaries and distinguished guests. He has represented China at exhibitions in France, Thailand, and other countries, where his works have been warmly received and widely acclaimed, thereby bringing honor to the nation. Moreover, his art has served as a cultural bridge that fosters mutual understanding and helps resolve diplomatic differences, making an outstanding contribution to international relations. His works are held in the collections of the State Council, Zhongnanhai, the Great Hall of the People, various national ministries and commissions, as well as many renowned domestic and international academies of calligraphy and painting and private collections.
From a poor rural child in Zhong County, Chongqing, Mr. Fang has grown into a master of painting for a generation. Along the way, he endured hardships that most people could scarcely bear, yet he met them with extraordinary diligence and perseverance—stealing techniques from masters, immersing himself in relentless study, and often spending more than ten hours at a stretch in front of his easel, his clothes drenched with sweat only to dry again. Through unceasing, tireless effort—working day and night without rest—he charged forward on the path of artistic pursuit, ultimately achieving the remarkable accomplishments he enjoys today.
Having achieved great success in his studies, Mr. Fang has never forgotten to give back to society. As soon as Chairman Mao issued the call to “Learn from Comrade Lei Feng,” he responded enthusiastically by establishing a free painting class dedicated to teaching the art of drawing in the spirit of Lei Feng. At times, he even faced misunderstanding from his own family, yet his original aspiration remained unwavering. For more than fifty years, he has continued this endeavor without interruption, devoting tremendous effort to it. At the same time, he has remained committed to giving back to his hometown, which nurtured him, donating several million yuan to local schools and making contributions both to the nation and to society. In doing so, he has fully embodied the “painting life and patriotic devotion” that define his deep love for his country and his home.
Now in his eighty-second year, Mr. Fang remains remarkably vigorous and ever more energetic, continuing his tireless pursuit on the artistic path. He strives to fuse music, painting, and dance into a unified whole—viewing painting as living music and dance, and his works as superb vehicles for expression. We sincerely hope that Mr. Fang will achieve complete success.
Through this special Party Day activity, we gained insight into the inspiring life of a veteran artist—his diligent and dedicated work ethic, his unwavering courage in the face of adversity, his persistent commitment to painting, and his profound love for both his family and country. The great spirit of compassion he embodies is precisely the invaluable quality we are encouraged to emulate today, and it is also the very spiritual strength our enterprise needs. The event profoundly moved everyone present. Attendees agreed that, although none of us may achieve monumental success, we can all strive for excellence in our ordinary roles and make the contributions that are rightfully ours.
